Every time I shut down my computer (vista) windows tries to install 2 updates (IE 8 & Cumulative update for Media Player). How do I stop windows from trying to install these updates everytime I shutd down my computer?

I’m just tired of having to wait a half hour for updates that don’t even install every single time I shut down.
You can use an extra tool to solve this problem. Its name is 4Videosoft iPod to Computer Transfer. I have been using it for a period. It helps you transfer music, songs, videos from iPod to Computer directly when you want to backup your iPod files to Computer.
You can free download it on the following website to have a try.

Hope my advice can help you.
Thanks in advance!
Right click on My Computer,
click on properties
select the automatic update tab
then select “Disable Automatic Update”
I dont have Vista installed on my PC . I have XP but I hope the methods in both the OSs are same .
When you get a pop-up message saying “Click here to install these updates” . Click on that message and two options will appear , check “Custom Install” and select next .
There you will propably see the IE8 update and the other Media Player update entered into the list .

Untick the updates you dont want to install and click next .
Then it will tell you something like this : the unchecked updates wont be installed . There will also be a message in the same window saying : “Dont Notify me about these updates agian” . Tick that message as well .

This is the method i choose for XP but I am pretty sure its the same in Vista as well .
